Anchoring bias

There is no better real-world example of anchoring bias than Trump’s “sharpiegate” during hurricane Dorian in 2019. His inability to shift with new information caused a very real panic in Alabama.

When interpreting information, we tend to grasp the first piece of information available which we then use to frame our understanding of subsequent information. This bias is commonly exploited in marketing.
