Appeal to Faith

Not to be confused with the appeal to common belief which is the claim that since a lot of people believe something, it must be true.

Appeal to faith is a more specific form of circular reasoning in which, something is true because the premise claims to be true. It is a self-defeating position in that one is openly stating there is no rational argument to be made in defense of the position.
